You’ve never been to a company banquet quite like this one. The annual company party at a business the same family has owned for three generations (available as a non-holiday company banquet or a holiday-themed party). On this night, the founder is finally stepping down. Guests are asked to be part of the story and the show. Everyone comes as the staff: some have a grievance, there’s a Secret Santa to hunt down (holiday version only), and one has somebody in the room they’ve been quietly seeing. A big announcement near the end will surprise everyone.

  • Running time About 2½ hours
  • Audience Adults
  • When Any time of year as a company banquet, or as a Christmas party
  • Our actors 1 to 3 of our actors

Available as a company banquet, or as a Christmas party for a seasonal theme.

The evening

The managers are jockeying for position, and the founder’s kids are circling. HR is one drink away from a policy violation. There’s an employee-of-the-year vote and a raffle, and the founder has an announcement he’s saving for dessert. When he finally taps his glass, the party stops being a party.

How your guests take part

This is a very interactive show. Upon arrival, every guest is assigned a part: They will interact with the cast as a member of the staff or management, with a card that gives them a department, a grievance or something to defend, and an interesting task to complete before the night is over. Your guests may want to come to more than one performance, as their interactions with the cast and the story itself will be different every time.

Larger speaking parts that are integral to the flow and plot of the show are filled by people in your organization or by finding actors from your local community theater.

We also know every guest has their own comfort level. Any guest roles that require speaking or otherwise draw attention to themselves are filled before the show by volunteers, who are also given a brief orientation. Any guest can trade a card with someone else or hand it to the actor hosting their table. Anyone can simply sit back and enjoy the show. Nobody is ever put on the spot.

The details

VenueAnywhere you would hold a banquet, set up as the company party. The founder needs a microphone for his speech and the awards. While not required, the primary cast members can also wear a performance microphone (we can help you find a local company to provide this service).
The mealPlated or buffet, your choice.
Your castLocal actors for the roles we don’t bring, plus the ten to twenty guests who will volunteer for the smaller speaking parts.
Guests bring and wearFor the Christmas party: office Christmas party attire, and an unwrapped gift for a local charity. For the company banquet: office casual or office formal.
The raffleWhere your state allows it, your organization can run the story’s raffle for real. Otherwise it becomes a drawing for everyone, with a gift for the winner.
MusicNothing in the show depends on a particular song. We walk you through any music licenses your venue needs.
